There are a couple of "hidden" features which can be accessed while the camera is turned off.

  1. Press the INFO button to get the compass (or to turn it off again). Also displayed is the time, barometric pressure and altitude*, temperature, and your location if GPS is turned on.

    * The altitude is calculated from the pressure reading so needs to be calibrated. This can be done by entering your actual altitude in the camera menu settings –> Custom Menu (the cog wheel) –> menu G –> Elevation/Depth.

  2. Press and hold the INFO button to use the camera as a torch – it turns the front LED on and off.
