Spotted at Heathrow airport, down a corridor to the toilets:
I've been doing a lot of driving recently. Monday and Tuesday (9 &
10 June) saw a couple more trips to the camp site to pick up kids on one
day then to pick up the cooks and their equipment on the following day.
On that 2nd trip I got a flat tyre on the way to the camp site thanks
to a leaking valve stem. Several bulges in the sidewall of the tyre makes
us think people have been hitting potholes at high speed. Buying a new
tyre in Timisoara later that day took over an hour, plus more time to
fit it and change the valve stem somewhere else. After all that we still
needed to deliver the cooks to their home city several hours away on the
other side of Timisoara from the camps.
Leaving Timisoara for the second time that day (well after 5pm) the temperature
at the railway station was 39°C. I figure with it being a van, diesel,
the right side of the road, potholes, the heat, etc, it's better to take
it carefully, so I eventually got home at about 2:40am Wednesday morning.
On Thursday I was up at 5am to be out the door at 5:45am to pick up people
and get to Jimbolia. Back home more than 14 hours later after a hard day
digging, driving and drinking (water and a bit of pineapple juice). The
four and a half or so litres I drunk that day doesn't seem to be enough.
I had a slightly more restful day on Friday, as
it included a birthday pool party for two of the girls from the
Mana Ministries Girls' House. Apart from the water being rather
green and us being kicked out before it got particularly late we
had a great time.
The American team here for the recent camp has just left. On one of their
trips into the city one of the girls in the team was sitting on the footpath
taking a rest when a woman came up to her and tried to give her money.
She must have looked too much like a begger, and really confused the woman
when she refused to take accept the money. The woman gave the money to
the "genuine" begger next to her.
Oh yeah, about that pool party. I got some great photos...
